Academy Principal’s Welcome
Welcome to the St Simon Stock Catholic School website.
We are a proudly Catholic school, established in 1967 and based on the Oakwood Campus in Maidstone, which has a deserved reputation both within Kent and nationally, for the strong academic progress that our young learners make, and for the high expectations and aspirations that we have as they journey through life.
Our expectations for our learners’ behaviour for learning are second-to-none. We consistently speak of the importance of ‘scholarly behaviour’. This means that we aim for our students to leave us, after seven years of hard study, as cultured young adults, with a love for all that is beautiful, globally and historically. We aim to foster a love for learning and academic rigour, which they will maintain for the whole of their lives. Our curriculum is balanced, relevant, strongly academic and fosters curiosity and creativity.
Visitors consistently comment on how respectful and well-mannered our students are. This is because we have a strong family ethos, with outstanding pastoral care, which places the dignity of each young learner at the heart of everything that we do. Our students understand that education is about more than academic qualifications, as important as these are. It is also about educating the whole child. We teach our children to use their education and academic qualifications to serve the common good, and to go out and improve the world when they leave us as young adults, at the age of eighteen.
In October 2021 we were graded as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted under the new inspection framework. The following month, in November 2021, we were graded as ‘Outstanding’ when our school was inspected by the Education Commission of the Catholic Diocese of Southwark.
Our motto is ‘Labora Cum Amore’, which means, ‘Work With Love’, as Christ taught us to do.
Thank you for your interest in our school.
