Mr J Malone - Academy Principal

I have taught in Catholic education in Kent for 31 years, of which 22 years has been in positions of senior leadership.

I was born in West Yorkshire. My school days were spent in Cheshire, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and Leicestershire (my family frequently moved house due to my father's job) although most of my secondary school years were in Knutsford, Cheshire, achieving A Levels in History, English and Geography in 1980; three years later I graduated from the University of Reading with a BA (Hons) in History

I have been a teacher of History for 33 years, which includes 2 additional years teaching in Quebec, Canada in the early 1990s; previously I was a Head of History, an Assistant Chief Examiner for GCSE History and an Assistant Headteacher at St Gregory’s Catholic Comprehensive school in Tunbridge Wells. I achieved the National Professional Qualification in Headship in 2004.

I joined St Simon Stock Catholic School as Deputy Headteacher in 2004 and was appointed Academy Principal in September 2018.

I believe that everyone, without exception, should be able to achieve their dreams, and that it is the great responsibility of educators to find ways of unlocking each and every person's potential. I passionately believe in the power of a growth mindset, of scholarly habits and hard work and that our responsibility is to nurture a love of learning as a lifelong ambition.

Our Values
