Ms L Goldson - Assistant Principal-SEND and Transition
Mrs L Goldson – Assistant Principal: SEND and Transition
I have always had a passion for words and languages. I studied BA (Hons) Mandarin Chinese at university in London, with a year abroad at the University of Nanjing in China. I then worked in the non-profit sector for many years in different charity roles before finding the right opportunity to retrain as a teacher. In 2005, I completed my PGCE at the University of Greenwich and for the next 7 years taught a wide range of subjects, including English, Maths, ICT and horticulture. I gained a Level 7 qualification to conduct testing for access arrangements in 2014 and the postgraduate National Award of Special Educational Needs Co-ordination in 2015. I have been the SENCo at St Simon Stock Catholic School since 2016 and have never had the same day twice; such is the diversity and individuality of our students. Over the last few years I have been involved in the Maidstone Transition pilot to improve transition from Primary to Secondary schools in Maidstone and I am now responsible for transition for all pupils joining in year 7 as well as continuing as the Assistant Principal for SEND.
