Year 6 into Year 7 Transition

We are delighted to welcome you to our wonderful school.

Starting secondary school is a very special milestone in anyone’s life. Your child will most likely experience more independence and learn new skills and knowledge every day. Most importantly, they will be ready to take on the modern world when they leave us.

Transition from primary school to secondary school is a very important process and we are proud of our induction programme for your child. At St Simon Stock Catholic School, we believe that preparation is the key to success and we hope that the following information will help you and your child prepare for this next stage in their academic life.

Taster Workshops & Transition Day

The transition from primary school to secondary school can be an anxious time for many children and their parents/carers.

In recognition of this, our Taster Workshops have been developed specifically for pupils in Year 5 and aims to ease the level of anxiety as they look ahead to their transition to secondary school.

Our Transition Day has been developed to assist Year 6 pupils adjust socially, emotionally, academically and spiritually to their new life at St Simon Stock. The pupils are also encouraged to develop positive relationships with key staff members and their new friends.

Details of the Taster Workshops and Transition Day will be added in due course.

Our Values

Prayer & Faith

We must ‘Go and do likewise’, to serve the needs of others.

We are ‘One Body in Christ’, inclusive and welcoming to all.

We are called to ‘be constant in prayer’ to discern God’s love. Students are invited to faith, participating in regular acts of workshop as forms, classes, year groups, and a school.

Students are expected to be hopeful, showing respect to themselves, their peers, teachers and the environment.

Students are expected to be charitable through acts of service in school and the wider community.

Students are expected to maintain a scholarly attitude in all lessons and work to the best of their ability and engage where they can in extra-curricular activities.
