Physical Education and Sport
Welcome to our Physical Education page
Physical Education (PE) at St Simon Stock is part of every pupil’s entitlement to a good education. It is unique in that it is taught through physical activity in weekly practical lessons both indoors and outdoors, in a wide range of physical, creative and aesthetic settings.
It provides pupils with the generic skills, knowledge and understanding they need to become physically literate, and at the same time develop the pupils socially through developing leadership and team work skills.
When taught well, physical education enthuses and inspires pupils to participate fully and develop a life-long love of physical activity, sport and exercise.
As a department we place huge emphasis on extracurricular activities, both committing to high level of sports clubs and sports fixtures across a range of sporting competitions both locally and at county level.

Would you like to join our Fencing Club?
If your heart beats faster when swords clash and duels are fought to the death, or when lightsabres hum and whirr and crackle as they connect – then you should try fencing.
St Simon Stock now offers Sabre Fencing to Years 7 and 8 and we hope to extend the provision to KS4 in September. In the sessions you will learn the basics of how to hit and avoid your opponent’s blade, as well as how to move effectively and score points. After a footwork warm-up, there is some technical blade-work before each session ends with free-fencing, where you get a chance to wield the steel yourself.
* All kit is provided by our fully qualified Sabre Fencing coach, Dr Kossuth.
Don’t miss out on the fun and the opportunity to learn how to handle a sword.
