A Night of Joy and Christmas Wonder

On Wednesday 17 December, our school community gathered for a truly magical and joy-filled Carol Service, hosted this year at the beautiful St Francis Catholic Church in Maidstone. With the church filled to capacity and around 210 guests in attendance, the evening was alive with warmth, light and the unmistakable spirit of Christmas.

The service was brought to life by a wonderful choir, including 10 students from St Francis Catholic Primary School and three members of our own staff, whose voices blended beautifully to fill the church with hope and celebration. The carols were sung with joy and reverence, creating moments that were both uplifting and deeply moving.

The Christmas story was thoughtfully woven throughout the evening through narration written and read by our Chaplain, Miss Joyce, whose words guided the congregation with reflection, meaning and heart. These were complemented by beautifully delivered readings from our students and members of the wider community, each contributing to a sense of togetherness and shared faith.

In one of the most touching moments of the evening, several people passing by the church heard the singing and were drawn inside, joining the congregation and sharing in the joy of the service. It was a powerful reminder of how music, faith and welcome can bring people together in the most unexpected and wonderful ways.

Every element of the evening reflected the spirit of Labora Cum Amoreworking with love. The service left hearts lifted and spirits bright, and we felt immense pride to be part of the St Simon Stock Catholic School community as we journey together towards Christmas.
