Rooted in Care, Shaping the Next Generation with Distinction

Eco-Schools Green Flag Distinction for a school where Catholic values, scientific curiosity, and stewardship grow together.

We are proud to announce that St Simon Stock Catholic School has been awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award at Distinction level – recognising how our students live out Catholic Social Teaching through faith, science, and stewardship.

Our Eco journey is rooted in care. From student-led litter picks to planting pollinator-friendly shrubs in our ‘Stewards of the Earth’ garden, these actions have become a natural part of school life, building a shared culture of environmental responsibility.

This award reflects rich, cross-curricular learning where STEM knowledge and moral purpose grow together. In Science, students have explored ecosystems, composting, and pollination; in RE, they have reflected on Pope Francis’s Laudato Si, discovering that caring for creation is both a scientific priority and a Gospel calling.

The result is a flourishing Eco-identity where students grow in confidence, leadership, and respect for the natural world. Like rooted plants, they stand firm in their values; like new shoots, they reach outwards to influence others, lead change, and shape a sustainable future.

This Distinction belongs to every member of our community – together, we are planting seeds of hope for generations to come.
