St Simon Stock Jubilee Pilgrimage to Rome
In the early hours of Sunday 25 May, forty excited students and four staff members set off from St Simon Stock Catholic School, bound for Gatwick and onwards to the historic city of Rome.
Staying in a welcoming hotel near the Termini, our group immersed themselves in Rome’s extraordinary history and culture. Highlights of the pilgrimage included stepping back in time at the Colosseum, exploring the ancient Catacombs, and marvelling at the breathtaking treasures of the Vatican Museums, culminating in the awe-inspiring Sistine Chapel ceiling.
We also enjoyed a guided walking tour taking in landmarks such as the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, where many of us kept tradition alive by tossing in a coin and wishing for a return visit. Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without sampling authentic Italian gelato, and our visit to a local gelateria proved to be a delicious highlight!
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Denny, Mr Catermole and Deacon Ian for so generously giving their time to make this unforgettable experience possible.
