Year 7 Bushcraft Team Building Camp
On Thursday 11 September, 98 excited Year 7s set off for the Woods at Penshurst Place, Tonbridge, for two days of adventure, teamwork, and plenty of fun!
From fire lighting and shelter building to tackling team challenges, there was never a dull moment. Everyone enjoyed freshly cooked meals, endless snacks, and lots of laughs around the campfire. Nights were spent camping out in tents, chatting with old friends and getting to know new ones.
By the time we arrived back at school on Friday afternoon, everyone was tired, happy, and maybe just a little muddy, with more than a few still wearing the same clothes they left in!
Many thanks go to Mrs Denny, Mr Sus, Ms McAlpine, Mr Cattermole and Mr Tillott for generously giving their time to accompany this residential visit.
Thank you to Will T for his review of the Bushcraft Residential below.
Miss Worron
My time at Bushcraft was great. It was a time to get away from school and have a break from learning. Bushcraft had lots of activities to do for example a game that’s like red light, green light and survival building using ropes and tarpaulins. There was lots to explore while walking around camp.
The food there was very tasty and filling. When we arrived we were put into groups and told which tents we were in. The staff at Bushcraft did a camouflage lesson and game. We learnt how to use flint and steel to make a fire. Many of the other Year 7s liked the camp and the activities that we did.
At night we did camp fire games and also had camp fire biscuits. The tents were big enough to hold 8-10 people and it was very warm and comfy to sleep in the tent.
I made lots of new friends and the friends I’ve already made I got to know them even better. On the coach ride there and back it was really bumpy at the back of the coach but that is what made the ride entertaining.
Over all my time at bushcraft camp was great, it was really fun.
