Work with Love

Religious Principles

We are a Catholic Christian Community committed to improvement as we move towards becoming an outstanding school. We want each young person who joins us to reach their God-given potential and become a person prepared for leadership and the challenges of the 21st Century. Our students leave the School having begun to develop their unique, God-given gifts and talents, aware of their responsibility to serve by shaping the world we live in for themselves and for others.

We are a vibrant and supportive community which is committed to developing in our students a passion for knowledge and excellence. We expect high standards of work and behaviour which was recognised in 2014 by the Section 48 Inspection which judged the school ‘OUTSTANDING’ in its provision of Catholicity, and by the Government in 2016 by a Section 5 inspection which judged the school ‘GOOD’ and when we became one of only 20 Lead Behaviour Schools in the country. We believe that through relationships based upon the Gospel values of faith, hope and love, mutual respect and positive affirmation of achievements, everyone can succeed.

We believe that a ‘can-do’ mentality, coupled with hard-work and perseverance will result in everyone enjoying success. Every person is included and valued regardless of background or ability. The temptation to settle for second best must never be a feature of our School.

Great emphasis is placed upon the co-operation between home and school since we believe that it is essential in developing the individual. The role of the Parish and Deanery is important and the weekly Mass is served by our local Deanery Clergy. Together we can achieve the very best of those entrusted to our care, helping each one to become equipped for an adult life of learning and service to others. St John Baptist De La Salle [Patron Saint of Teachers] said that we should treat the students as if ‘they were the sons and daughters of a King’.

We believe that we are made in the image and likeness of God. Therefore, every human being is of value, is unique and has an eternal destiny. From this, it follows that we will be living the Christian way of life when each member of the school community is treated as an individual, with respect and dignity, regardless of creed, colour, race or gender as members of the body of Christ.
