The Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award
Since its creation in 1956 by the late HRH The Duke of Edinburgh KG KT, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme has gone from strength to strength. Guided by the same set of principles and by young people themselves, it’s as relevant today as it was then.
A flexible programme that helps to develop young people for life and work, the numbers speak for themselves: 93% of participants feel that DofE has helped them to work in a team and 84% feel that they have become a more responsible person.
Here at St Simon Stock we run the Bronze and Silver levels of Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, which consists of volunteering work, skill activities, physical activities, and a two day Qualifying Expedition. Last year 11 students gained the qualification, and this year we hope to achieve 38.
Our future ambition as a school, is to grow the participant numbers who take part in the award and progress on to Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
