Our Vision as an RE department

The primary purpose of Religious Education is to come to know and understand God’s revelation, which is fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ and to give insight to the importance of faith in the wider world and its impact on moral thinking and collaboration with others.

Religious Education Provision

At Key Stage 3, students follow a bespoke Religious Education course formed by the RE department covering stories from the Bible, New Testament morals and the ministry and teachings of Christ as well as the beliefs and practices of Judaism and Islam.

At Key Stage 4, students follow the Edexcel Specification A Religious Studies course covering Catholic Christianity beliefs and teachings, practices, sources of authority and forms of expression, Judaism beliefs and teachings and practices, Philosophy and Ethics from a Catholic perspective.

At Key Stage 5, students follow the OCR A Level in Religious Studies covering: Philosophy of Religion, Religion and Ethics, and Developments in Christian Thought.

In the Sixth Form, students take the General RE course which follows a bespoke programme exploring questions within various disciplines of religious studies including questions of philosophy, theology, ethics, humanities and sociology.

Attainment

We must ‘Go and do likewise’, to serve the needs of others.

We are ‘One Body in Christ’, inclusive and welcoming to all.

We are called to ‘be constant in prayer’ to discern God’s love. Students are invited to faith, participating in regular acts of workshop as forms, classes, year groups, and a school.

Students are expected to be hopeful, showing respect to themselves, their peers, teachers and the environment.

Students are expected to be charitable through acts of service in school and the wider community.

Students are expected to maintain a scholarly attitude in all lessons and work to the best of their ability and engage where they can in extra-curricular activities.
