A LEVEL RESULTS 2018

A LEVEL RESULTS 2018: PRESS RELEASE

We congratulate our students on their A Level results, which for most students in most of their subjects equalled or exceeded expectations. Many students, achieved exceptionally high results across all their subjects, and will be starting degree courses at some of the top universities in the country this September. The vast majority of students secured their first choice places. More than one in five entries achieved the highest grades A* to A with three in five entries achieving grades A* to C. Three out of every five students achieved three A Levels with eight out of ten gaining two or more A Levels. The average grade for vocational courses was a Merit Plus. All students secured a pass in at least one subject.

Special congratulations go to two students who achieved the highest grade of A* in three subjects, which is an exceptional achievement. Aiden Huynh-Nguyen was awarded A* grades in Maths, Further Maths and Physics, with an additional A grade in Chemistry. Aiden will now go on to study Physics at Warwick University. Lukasz Madej achieved straight A* grades in Business, Economics and Psychology and who will now go to Surrey University to study Business Management.

Also worthy of special mention are Ben Tugwell and Grace Wheeler who achieved straight A grades in all their subjects. Ben, who achieved A grades in Business, Economics and Geography will take up an apprenticeship in accountancy. Grace, who achieved A grades in Maths, Chemistry and Physics, will study Veterinary Medicine at university following a gap year.

Other students who have deservedly achieved places at top universities include Daniela Coates who will study English at Exeter University, Katie Daly, who will study English and American Literature at the University of Kent, Filip Raksazewski, who will study Economics at Manchester University and George Underdown, who will study Law at Surrey University.

Vice Principal, Jon Malone, commented:

‘We are very proud of the achievements of all of our students. We are a large and inclusive sixth form and today our students, at all levels, will deservedly be celebrating many excellent A Level results. I congratulate all of our students on their results and wish them the best as they take up their hard-earned places at universities, including many top institutions, in apprenticeships and in employment. I know that our students will today be thanking their teachers, who have worked tirelessly to help them achieve their full potential, who I also thank on their behalf. We firmly believe that academic success is built on hard work and perseverance, and that every student can achieve with a growth mindset. These results, which for many students represent considerable progress from their GCSE starting points, are testimony to the students’ self-belief and much hard work.’
