ENTERPRISING 6TH FORMERS RAISE MORE THAN £260 IN 20 MINUTES FOR MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT TRUST
Never before has Stocky seen so much cake! 29th September 2017 marks St Simon Stock’s annual coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support Trust and it was an amazing event. Macmillan’s ambition is to help millions of people suffering with cancer and their families. It doesn’t therefore come as much of a surprise, how enthusiastic our students were when they were given the opportunity to bake or bring in cakes to raise money for Macmillan. From lemon drizzle to chocolate Swiss roll, the prefect room was brimming with delicious cakes with one student baking a very creative iced cake for students to guess the weight. The event was put on by Miss Lockett and the prefect team, with some baking and donating cakes whilst others helped make the event run smoothly and create a lively atmosphere. Sixth Form Deputy Head, Miss Lockett said that everyone did an “amazing job” whilst Vice Principal Mr Malone commented that “This type of event perfectly captures what our school is about, developing our students to be confident leaders, showing initiative and using their skills to help others.” We are proud to announce that the event made a total of £267.69 which wouldn’t have been possible without the kind purchases and donations of Stocky staff and students all in the name of an amazing charity. I would like to thank, on behalf of the prefect team all the students and staff who helped to make this event possible.
