Founder’s Day, 2019

Every year, St Simon Stock has a day in which there are a multitude of activities for students from all years to partake in. This is known as Founder’s day, in honour of the saint from whom the school got its name. This day is largely run but the Prefect Team, led by Head Girl and Boy, Georgia and Sam and a new selection of great things have been chosen for the day.

One of the most popular activities that Founder’s Day offers is one that has lasted many a year at the school;  the teacher stocks! This isn’t the same as the medieval punishment, but it is simply throwing soaked sponges at some ‘game’ teachers! Some of the teachers included are Miss. Duffy, Mr. Fiddler, Mr. Malone and more! This is something any student can look forward to and is just one example of the fun that is had on this day. There are other activities, such as raffles, a makeover stand, sports such as Basketball and Rounders, music and guess the number of balloons in a car, which are a wide selection for everyone to be able to enjoy.

The Founder’s Day events take place from lunchtime on Thursday 18th, after the ‘Pride of Stocky Awards’. For those of you who are unaware of the Pride awards, this is an end of year set of awards for both students and staff to celebrate the wonderful achievements of many of our students and staff throughout the year. The votes have been open for a couple of weeks now and are accessible through FROG. This is something the school has held for years now and is a great way to cherish and celebrate the best bits of every year.

Founder’s Day has always been a popular day and is always a resounding success, and there is no reason to believe this year will be any different. Thursday this week is Founder’s Day and we are all very excited for students partake in the day. Fellow students- don’t forget to bring plenty of change on the day so you can enjoy the edible treats on offer and take part in the activities and games!

We look forward to seeing you there!
