Functional Skills Success
Functional Skills Success
Year 9 (and some year 10) pupils have taken their first externally assessed nation-wide exam for a long time – and excelled.
More than 80% of pupils passed this first stepping stone on the path to their English GCSE. Functional Skills is an English Language exam, which tests reading and writing as well as speaking and listening skills in three separate papers, so is a very demanding assessment.
At level 2, AQA (the examination boards) states that a pass is roughly equivalent to a grade 4 in GCSE English Language.
The pupils were all gathered together to open their results envelopes and emotions rode high as they reaped the rewards for their hard work. Those that did not quite make the cut the first time round, can re-take the part that didn’t go according to plan in March, and we wish them all the best for that.
Congratulations and very well done to all pupils!
