GCSE Prizegiving

On Wednesday 23rd January we celebrated the successes of our 2018 GCSE cohort with our annual Year 11 Presentation afternoon.  Students received their GCSE certificates in a ceremony lead by Mr Chittenden (Assistant Headteacher), with the official presentation carried out by Mr Malone (Academy Principal).

There was particular praise for Dan Clayton who is our highest performing GCSE student ever, due to the introduction of the new Grade 9.  Dominic Turner and Nicola Osborne were also singled out for high praise due to their fantastic progress at GCSE.  All three students continue their studies in our 6th form.

Our celebrations were enhanced by the publication on the same date of the final GCSE results for the school, with a Progress 8 score of +0.5 placing us once again in the top 3 non-selective schools in Kent (2018 2nd, 2017 3rd, 2016 1st) and in the top group of schools nationally with progress classed as Well Above Average.

Great congratulations are due to all stakeholders in this success:  Firstly our students, whose positive attitude and dedication to work was second-to-none, the commitment of our teachers and support staff to leaving no stone unturned in their quest for excellent, and lastly to our parents/carers whose excellent support is always appreciated.

As ever, time passes quickly, and we are already half-way through Year 11 and have high hopes for our current students, the 2019 cohort, that they will continue our long history of success.

Mr P Chittenden

Assistant Headteacher – Leader of Teaching, Learning, Assessment & Year 11
