Kent Fire and Rescue Service – Y8, Y10 & Y11
On Tuesday 21st November, Firefighter Dan Morley from Kent Fire and Rescue Service came in to present to Y11, Y10 and Y8 students.
For Year 11, the focus of the talk was awareness to road safety and, in particular, being a good passenger. This conveniently coincided with Road Safety week where students have been looking at road safety in their citizenship tasks throughout the school.
Students were fully engaged throughout and in particular emotions rose high at the concluding video where sadly a car collision caused a new mother to lose her life on her way to bring her new born baby home from the hospital. Year 10 and Year 8 had a different focus whereby Dan explained a series of cases he has been involved in with young people committing arson attacks. Dan provided anecdotes from the local area which seemed to really drive the message home to our students.
Overall, KFRS delivered a very emotional but important message for our students and I am sure they will take on board his words of advice.
