Porchlight Final Results
This week, Nathan from the charity Porchlight came back in to visit year 12 and collect the amazing donations given by our school community. The impressive final amount raised from the sleepout and cake sale was £2, 219.61! Nathan told the students that this money can keep an outreach team operating on the streets of Kent, supporting the increasing number of homeless, for almost a month.
Nathan was also very pleased to take away with him several boxes full of sanitary products that have been donated by staff, students and parents; these will be taken to the outreach teams and be benefitting the increasing number of girls and women on the streets.
Finally, to support the mental health programmes run by Porchlight in the shared accommodation provided for homeless youth, Nathan collected the ‘well being hampers’ created by our prefect team from the donations of art equipment we received from our school community. These boxes will be used as part of art therapy to help youngsters with mental health problems.
As always, I am overwhelmed with the response received from our community and proud to say that in all the years of the sleepout, this is the highest amount ever raised. Well done to everyone involved and many, many thanks to everyone for whatever contributions you have made to allow us to support this vital cause.
