  • Under 13’s Football Team Crowned Maidstone School Champions

    Fri 29 Jun 2018

In the battle of the Maidstone Schools elite teams our boys were victorious!

Having won all their league matches and finishing top of their group, the team were rewarded with a direct place in the final against Maidstone Grammar School for Boys (MGS). They went into the match having stretched their domestic unbeaten run for two years and having won the championship league the year before.

The match opened in favour of the opposition, with MGS testing our defence and goalkeeper early on. However, soon after our boys settled and launched in a number of counter attacks with Riley C and Sam W threatening with their speed and dribbling ability. Halfway through the first half Riley C broke the deadlock following some outstanding play from our Captain Ryan H and his centre midfield partner Harvey J. By this stage our boys were in full control of the match; dominating in possession and entertaining the crowd with a fantastic style of play. The team went on to extend the lead with Sam W and ended up going into the break with a comfortable lead.

Following the break, the boys continued with the same attitude and their hard work paid off at the end of the match. The boys won the final three goals to one with Riley C scoring a third for the team and second for himself.  The result was frequently protected by our consistently outstanding defence who were able to cope with MGS counter-attacks throughout the game.

The boys have had an incredible season having also reached the semi-final of the Kent Cup and, with Mr Nimani, are aiming even higher next year – to reach the final of the Kent Cup.

  • Isabella Styles Pulls Eight Tonnes

    Thu 21 Jun 2018

On Sunday 20th May Isabella Styles completed an incredible eight-tonne truck pull in aid of her chosen charity, Steps.

Mrs Styles forwarded details of the achievement.

“This is a huge challenge for anyone but especially for Izzy who is not only very young (Year 9) but also was born with Developmental Dysplasia of both hips and as a result has had operations to treat this.

“Izzy has shown commitment to the training and completing this challenge to help a charity that supports others like her who don’t take walking for granted.

2We are so incredibly proud of her determination and strength throughout her years and completing this challenge was simply amazing and emotional for us all.”

We certainly agree with what an achievement this is and will try to add a video to the post soon!

In addition, please click HERE to out find more about the charity Steps.

Isabella is still fundraising via her own justgiving page found HERE, if you would like to show some extra support too.

  • Twin School Integration Programme

    Thu 14 Jun 2018

St Simon Stock School is taking part in the Twin School Integration Programme. We will be welcoming a group of 32 students accompanied by three teachers on 25th June.

The students and teachers are from a school located in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is in the northern part of Hong Kong, on the mainland across Victoria Harbour. Kowloon is the highest populated area in Hong Kong with a population over 2 million. The school name is HKSYC & IA Wong Tai Shan Memorial College.

During their visit, students will be paired with a student buddy and follow their timetable. This is a great and exciting opportunity for our school community as we expand our liaison with the Chinese schools across the continent.
