  • Carol Service 2019

    Fri 20 Dec 2019

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Carol Service last night.

It was a wonderful success, one of the best in recent years, which perfectly captured the meaning and feel of Christmas in a lovely traditional way.

We hope you have a restful break and will see you in the New Year!

    Dear St Simon Stock

“Thank you so much to your superb team for helping at the Christmas Fayre on Saturday. I thought you were all brilliant and did an amazing job. Thank you.

We had over 400 and have raised £2878 in income for the event which we are thrilled with. The games stall donations total £73.44 so not bad at all.”

    Best wishes

    Erica Snow

The ‘judges’ and myself have deliberated and are pleased to announce that we have a new St Simon Stock Prefect Team. The candidates have undergone a rigorous process of individual interviews, staff appraisal, group interviews and team building to make it this far. In the new year, we look forward to sharing with you more about our plans, ideas and achievements for the school.

  • Year 7 Pantomime Visit

    Fri 13 Dec 2019
On the 10th December, several members of the staff took the Year 7s to the Hazlitt Theatre in Maidstone to see “Beauty and the Beast”. It was great fun. With some pantomime classics like ABBA all the way to some great BakeOff themed slapstick, everyone had a fantastic time!
  • Year 11 mock examinations

    Tue 10 Dec 2019

It is that time of year already.  In January there will be two weeks of mock exams for Year 11 students, helping them prepare for the challenging examination period in Summer 2020.

Our whole community can help with this effort by please respecting all “Silence” and “Exams” signs – our apologies in advance for the number of rooms and corridors that will be closed off to help our Exams Officer Mr Barber deliver his usual excellent level of service to our fantastic students.

Timetables have been shared via email to students/parents/carers, and we will meet as usual in the Restaurant at 8:25am, 11:00am and 1:25pm, with the main venue being the Sports Hall, to give the full authentic experience of the summer exams.

  • Year 11 and the Can Appeal

    Tue 10 Dec 2019

Congratulations to our wonderful Year 11 students who, between them, have already donated over 500 items to our annual Can Appeal, to help those who are homeless or in great need at this cold time of year.

Special thanks to our current top donor Shave O’Dwyer who has contributed 25 items already!  Brilliant!

  • Tonbridge Debating Competition

    Fri 06 Dec 2019

On 19th November, 3 Sixth Form students – Finley Jarrett, Dominika Maruszczak and Sabe Santhosh – took part in a Debating Competition held at Tonbridge School. The students were the ‘Proposition’ for the motion ‘This House will abolish trial by Jury’. The students researched and presented a high-quality debate in which they presented recent and historical examples of cases miscarriages of justice, huge costs or jury bias and proposed alternative systems, guided by Ms K. Denny and myself. All 3 were a credit to themselves and excellent ambassadors for the school. The opposing team – Sutton Valence School – were experienced. However, our students were able to justify their arguments succinctly and eloquently. All the other teams had competed in this event before, but all 3 students held their own and formulated some strong arguments. The competition was organised by the English Speaking Union as an annual competition. Next year, I am certain we will be even more successful. It was an amazing experience for us all and we learnt a great deal. Huge congratulations to the students who took part – they should be very proud of themselves.

Melissa King (Academic Literacy and Debating Co-ordinator).
