• Computing at its Finest!!!

  The Computing Department have recently invested in a wide range of exciting products. Year 10 Computer Science students have been the first to enjoy exploring a range of Raspberry Pi kits, Edison Robots and Lego Mindstorm kits. From September 2021 we hope to launch our new Robotics Club where pupils will be able to explore how to program the robots using block editors or Python and encourage them to think critically and problem-solve. We hope this will continue to cultivate a positive attitudinal student mindset towards STEM and build their interest to to pursue further STEM opportunities.

  “I have always wanted to explore a Raspberry Picade but did not have enough money to buy one. I have now had an amazing opportunity to build one and I hope to teach younger year students on how to use it in September.”

  “I forgot how much fun lego was! It is even cooler than I remember especially as it can be used on these little Edison Robots that we are learning to program”.

  “ I have really enjoyed building the Raspberry Pi robotics kit. It has encouraged me to buy one to play with at home to develop my understanding further.”

• Our New Recruit!

  Hi! I’m PC Bradford, your newly appointed Schools Police Officer. As part of a new initiative by Kent Police our role is being introduced throughout the county over the next few months. Our aim is to offer our services and support within schools and the local community and to be readily available as an approachable and friendly figure. In September you’ll be seeing more of me around school and sometimes in the area of Maidstone. My responsibilities include:

   

  • Attending career and PSHE inputs
  • Engaging at school events
  • Liaising with teachers and parents
  • Being available to talk to students and to offer support for criminal and safeguarding matters inside and out of school.

   

  I look forward to getting to know everyone in the new term.
